Flemming Park - Eastleigh Grade 1

Competitors:- Deborah, Jason
Coaches attending:- Dugald

Just off Juction 13 of the M3 this was the Southern Regions Grade 1 for this year.
Making a very nice change from last seasons first competition of the year the Hall at Flemming park was warm and welcoming.

Euortramp had introduced for the first time to the Grade 1 Circuit a new trampoline with extra support struts on the legs to provide a more even bounce alowing greater controll at maximum height. Even so there were quite a few falls in the O19 Mens event in the set.

The Judges were marking critically again this year really tightening up on the range of scores given out. Once again it has got harder to obtain the scores which were achivable even during last seson.

First up was Jason who put in a very tidy set and was lying within the top 8 after his set, he then droped to 9th place just missing out on the finals by 0.1 after doing an even better Vol overtaken by those with a higher tariff.

In the afternoon Deborah was jumping - unfortunatly she had been suffering from a nasty bug that had kept her off work in the week running up to the competition it also ment that she had not got the last training session in.  However Deborah showed her competitive spirit and put in a good Set routine scoring well. However after taking a turn for the worse she stopped after 4 moves of her Vol.

A link to the results pages on BGs web site will be posted when they are uploaded.

Cardiff 2006

Competitors:- Deborah, Zoe, Nicola, Georgie, Jason
Coaches attending:- Dugald, Wendy.

Held at the Welsh Institute for Sport (known as the WIS) this is one of the nicer halls which we get to bounce in. Large, warm and light this made a very welcome change to Southend on Sea. On top of that Cardiff City Centre is only a short walk away though Sophia Gardens.

Saturday morning 09.00 and first up was Deborah, putting in a creditable first round in the first flight of two for the Over 19 Ladies. She then went on to the second round scoring only marginally less than her set for form; this coupled with her high tariff was a real achievement. Then the wait for the second flight to compete. Deborah finished 17th.

Nicola and Zoe took to the trampoline for the Under 19 Girls event –putting in good set routines scoring 22.8 and 23.0 respectively, both were season best scores! despite Zoe being ill.
Nicola performed a great vol. routine and moved up in to 6th position qualifying for the National Finals. On in to the final where she pulled up a place finishing in 5th.
Zoe put in a great start to the vol. but got dizzy towards the end that meant she finished just outside the finals in 9th place.

Georgie performed extremely well with great form marks for both her set and vol. She went on to finish 3rd in the under 13 Girls collecting Readings only Medal for the day.

Jason then bounced in the Over 19 Mens event. Putting in a seasons best form score for the set he was in 2nd place at the end of the first flight and 4th at the end of the second. The finals saw few place changes with the majority of the competitors staying on he managed to retain his 4th place and put some space between him and 5th.

Cardiff Grade 1 Synchro.

On then to Sunday and the mid season synchro. Jason bounced with long time synchro partner Graham Williams (Ministry of Air) and was entered for both the Senior Mens and the Over 19 Mens events.

The Senior Mens event was poorly attended which meant that all Jason and Graham had to do was show up to collect a medal. Graham and Jason convincingly won this one.

The Over 19 Mens event had more competition, but while not scoring the 10s ( 9.9 was shown for one round) for syncro that they did in the National Finals, Graham and Jason showed true form and were noticeably better than the rest. Finishing again in first position by nearly 8 clear points.

Results from Southend On Sea Grade 1 19/03/2006

Coaches Attending:- Wendy Neighbour, Dugald Davidson
Official Helper:- Mrs Beckett
Competitors :- Zoe Beckett, Rebecca Streeton, Jason Holland, Deborah Netton

Saturday morning saw two sets of Reading Trampolinist turn up at the Freezing Southend on Sea Grade 1 competition. One set taking a interesting detour to see the town center before finding the sports hall.
Unfortunatly the sports centre was so cold that staying warm had gone beyond a challange and was close to requiring a miricle, this affected everyones performance with many competitors falling in their sets.

First up was Deborah. A well executed set routine was an encouraging start to the competition season, and not being put off by the new judging critera Deborah warmed up her Vol. Her 2nd round started better than in her warm ups and took her a little by surprise, move two suffered due to over rotation but then she was back on form to finish a very credible 23rd out of 36.

Next up was Jason. Scoring 7.9 to 8.3 on his set he was having a great day. Opting for an easier Vol than in Hull he was concentrating on the form to qualify for the Nationals. This tactic paid off with the Vol scoring very similar marks to the set. On in to the Final and pulling up two places he finished in 6th again.

Zoe was our third competitior of the day, and performed a very nice set putting her in 6th position after the first round. Unfortunatly the cold got to her and she terminated her Vol routine a little earlier than she would have liked finishing in 11th position.

Rebecca was up next, however she was still suffering from a bad back and the cold was not helping at all. Bravely she decided to compete dispite being in considerable discomfort. After struggling with a set and Vol she finished in 19th place.

Last up for the Reading was Georgie Webb, putting in a good Set and Vol which scored exactly the same form marks as her Set!(well done) Georgie made the final and finished 6th in what was a very close competition.

Hull Grade 1 05/03/2006

Coaches Attending:- Wendy Neighbour
Competitors:- Nicola Dyer, Zoe Beckett, Rebecca Streeton, Jason Holland

Saturday night saw the arrival of two sets of RTC competitors in Hull, the Girls (Nicola, Zoë and Rebecca) had driven up with Wendy, whilst Jason had caught the train with long time syncro partner Graham Williams.

After an interesting tour on foot round Hull thanks to a helpful if not entirely accurate taxi driver, Jason found the Gymtec Arena (formally the Vulcan Arena) and booked the club in.
Then followed Wendy with the rest of the club who spent several anxious minutes trying to find Jason who had disappeared with the warm-up cards.

With the revised judging introduced at the start of 2006 it was immediately apparent that most marks were down almost an entire point from the scores obtained last year, this proved a little disheartening seeing scores of 7s go up instead of 8s and throughout the competition even some 5s were shown, almost unheard of in the previous years.

Jason put in a Set with good form - only a little too much travel caused the marks to be down on what he expected. His Vol got off to a good start however soon deteriorated in the middle section to survival, it picked up again at the end showing great determination. Due to the Tariff of the routine Jason made the finals and went on to perform an easier Vol with good form marks which pulled him up two places, finishing 6th overall.

Nicola put in a good set and then performed a great Vol with her form marks only 0.1 behind that of her Set ! this coupled with a very competitive Tariff for her group lead her to finish 6th overall too.

Zoe put in a good showing for her set and then followed up with a tidy Vol, however due to the new rule changes introduced this season meaning that only the top 2/3 (to a maximum of 8) of the group go though, finishing in 9th place meant no finals.

Rebecca started the competition with an slight injury to her back, unfortunately this only got worse after her set, and after being seen by the onsite physiotherapist a withdrawal was the only sensible option. She should be able to compete in Southend in a couple of weeks time.
